Rive Animation & State Machines

An animation system with a clear developer contract.

Discuss this service

Designed for developers and agencies needing authored interactive motion.

A visually finished file is difficult to integrate if its controls are ambiguous. Plan the state graph, property names, reset behavior and ownership of state alongside the artwork.

What we can build

  • Interactive Rive file.
  • State and control specification.
  • Runtime-aware handoff and fallback plan.

The final deliverables are agreed during discovery. Source files, implementation support and additional platform variants are included only when explicitly scoped.

A clear control contract

Plan the animation’s public controls before producing a full motion library. A starting specification might include:

  • Document each property name and type.
  • Define defaults, ranges and reset rules.
  • Record events and their expected transitions.

These are proposed control names and behaviors, not an existing Rive asset. The final file determines the actual property and state names.

Integration considerations

Review runtime feature support before committing to editor features. Choose data binding or existing input controls to match the file and target runtime; integration engineering is scoped explicitly.

Review the behavior

Validate the final export in the target runtime with a documented event sequence, layout changes and repeated mounting.

Portfolio preview pending. No client example is published for this service yet. Explore the labeled CSS interaction studies to discuss behavior and visual direction.

From brief to handoff

  1. Define. Review your audience, key events, platform and asset requirements.
  2. Design. Approve the visual direction, key poses and transition rules.
  3. Build. Rig the artwork and author the agreed state system.
  4. Validate. Review an export against the acceptance sequence and target runtime.
  5. Handoff. Deliver the scoped assets, control map and integration notes.

Questions before we start

Is application code included?

Handoff notes and agreed file controls are part of the scoped delivery. Production app integration is a separate item unless explicitly included.

What should I include in the brief?

Share the target platform, screen dimensions, existing artwork, desired states and any runtime restrictions. A short recording of the current product is useful.

How are timing and cost agreed?

Scope depends on the artwork, state count, platform validation and revision needs. A defined brief comes before a project estimate.

CHAPTER 07 — START A PROJECT

Building something that needs to feel alive?

You build the product. I bring it to life. Share your platform, your idea, and the moments that need motion.
